Allin attacks Knight on Dynamite, Briscoe earns Forbidden Door cage match
Darby Allin made his first AEW appearance since losing the world title to Maxwell Jacob Friedman at Double or Nothing, returning on Dynamite to strike Kevin Knight with a skateboard before being driven from the arena by other members of the Don Callis Family.
Knight, who has aligned with the Don Callis Family and used the conclusion of the Double or Nothing hair-versus-title match to hit Allin with a UFO Splash while Allin was strapped to a gurney, opened Dynamite by directing criticism at both Allin and “Speedball” Mike Bailey. He called out MJF but it was Allin who answered. Allin delivered the skateboard shot and told Knight the events in New York had consequences before being chased out. Separately, Andrade El Idolo pressed Callis over a promised AEW World Championship opportunity; Callis acknowledged the commitment but offered no timetable.
Mark Briscoe added another singles victory, defeating PAC, extending a winning run in individual competition that dates to before a six-man tag team loss on the March 11 edition of Dynamite. Briscoe announced he had secured a match from AEW CEO Tony Khan: a ten-man steel cage match at Forbidden Door on June 28, where a victory for his side guarantees him an AEW World Championship shot. MJF immediately recruited the Don Callis Family for support, with Knight agreeing to participate in exchange for a future title opportunity. In the Owen Hart Foundation tournament, Swerve Strickland defeated Brody King – with Prince Nana’s interference proving decisive – to set up a men’s final against Will Ospreay at Forbidden Door, while Maya World replaced an injured Saree to defeat Skye Blue and advance to a semifinal meeting with Athena.
Forbidden Door on June 28 now carries the weight of three unresolved championship threads: the Briscoe-versus-MJF stakes match, the Ospreay-Strickland Owen Hart final, and the World-Athena semifinal, while Allin’s confrontation with Knight signals a singles program forming around the Don Callis Family’s expanding influence in AEW.
