Chambliss emerges as the top quarterback prospect of the season
Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss quarterback, has become the most outstanding player at his position during the first month of the college season. The quarterback leads the Rebels with a 3-0 record, completing 70% of his passes for 924 yards and seven touchdowns, in addition to adding 64 yards and two scores on the ground.
Chambliss arrived at Ole Miss after four seasons at Ferris State, a Division II university where he won a national championship. In his 16 starts with the Rebels, he has accumulated 14 wins, 591 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground, figures that support his reputation as a clutch player in decisive moments.
The analysis of his game, based on the five traditional quarterback evaluation categories -accuracy, anticipation, arm strength, athleticism and attitude-, yields high grades in almost all areas, with an A- in arm strength and an A in attitude and leadership. His accuracy and field-reading ability receive a B+, while his pure athleticism, although effective, was graded a B-, below mobile quarterbacks of a different profile.
Standing at 6 feet tall and 24 years old, Chambliss faces the two usual objections from NFL scouts: size and age. His closest physical comparison points to cases like Baker Mayfield and Russell Wilson, both of similar height and with long and healthy careers in the professional league. Heading into the 2027 draft, and despite months of season remaining, the level shown so far positions him as one of the most attractive quarterbacks in his class.
